WEYMOUTH chairman Ian Ridley has revealed how the club aims to whittle down its list of managerial candidates from 12 to three in the next seven to 10 days.
The board is still working around the clock to stabilise the financial situation at the Wessex Stadium, and it will not be until the full extent of those debts are realised that the Terras will be in a position to set a budget for their return to Blue Square South.
There was speculation over the weekend connecting Weymouth with a possible link-up with Team Bath, who have withdrawn from the Conference League set-up this year due to a lack of facilities.
The university side finished 11th in Blue Square South last season but they have been ground sharing with neighbours Bath City and without a stadium of their own are unable to progress any further.
Ridley admitted to having held talks with Team Bath but also insisted that nothing is likely to come of it. He said: “We have got a long list of a dozen managers and coaches that are available and that have interested us and we have had a look at Team Bath and the fact they have folded to see if there was anything there that could benefit us.
“We spoke with people there and looked at their management team and how successful they have been but it is just one of many things we have looked at.
“Nothing is progressing with Team Bath, let me put it that way, but at the moment there is no progression with any of them.
“We will look to whittle down the list of potential managers from 12 to three over the next week to 10 days but we are still clearing a lot of the wreckage at the club and until we have cleared that we cannot move on.”
Meanwhile, directors Shaun Hennessy and Connor Kin-sella are calling on all willing volunteers to attend an open meeting at the Wessex Stad-ium on Thursday at 7.30pm.
Hennessy said: “Since we took over at the club we have been inundated with people wanting to help out so Connor and I are holding a meeting this Thursday to discuss how best we can make use of everybody’s skills.
“We have had people offering to clean and paint to others who are willing to come in and do some admin and typing work, which is fantastic.
“We want to get the backroom of the football club up to together and because we cannot afford to get painters and cleaners in such volunteers are vital and we look forward to seeing them and putting their skills to good use.”
