CAPTAIN Tom Hicks, big-hitter Darren Cowley and Somerset talent Max Waller will all return to boost Dorset’s ranks for tomorrow’s crucial Minor Counties Championship Knockout Trophy group match against Cambridgeshire at Dean Park.

All three players were unavailable for the defeat at Buckinghamshire a fortnight ago and manager Sean Walbridge is hoping their added experience will help lead his side to a must-win.

He said: “Having those three back will make a big difference. Max missed the game against Bucks because he was called up by Somerset as 12th man for a one day game, so to have both him and Darren, who is another big player for us, back available is a huge plus.

“But the fact Tom is returning is perhaps an even bigger bonus. Not only were his performances with both bat and ball superb last year but he is also a very influential character in the changing room, so to have him back as well should give the team a huge lift.

“If we lose tomorrow’s game we can still advance to the knockout stages by winning our last two but in-order to get in the best possible position to qualify it really is a bit of a must-win.”

Broadstone youngster Mitch Wilson has also been called into the side to replace the unavailable Roger Sillence, while Steve Selwood, Dave Kidner and Charlie Esson miss out along with Martin Ford, Rich Banham and Paul Warren, who are all still not 100 per cent fit.
