WEYMOUTH Doonan Wildcats return to National League action this weekend with a double header.
First up, the Wildcats entertain the Rye House Cobras at the Wessex Bus Raceway tonight (7.15pm) before hitting the road to take on current league leaders the King’s Lynn Barracudas tomorrow.
The Wildcats lie third in the table despite having only raced one league meeting, but they will soar to the summit with back-to-back wins this weekend.
Team manager Jem Dicken, whose side hammered the Somerset Giants 62-31 in last week’s Challenge meeting, is in a buoyant mood ahead of both clashes.
He said: “All the lads are looking forward to the contests and I am confident of coming away with maximum points from both meetings.
“The lads are all riding well at the moment and our two reserves seem to be improving with each meeting.”
Wildcat Terry Day will be doubly keen to record victory this evening as he comes face to face with his former club, who have two points from their opening two league fixtures, while team-mate James Cockle tomorrow returns to the Norfolk Arena where last year he rode for the Boston Barracudas.
Wildcats: 1 Mark Burrows, 2 Terry Day, 3 James Cockle, 4 Matt Wright, 5 Lee Smart, 6 Tim Webster, 7 James White-Williams.
