BOSS Ian Hutchinson hopes Bridport can “finish in style” tomorrow (3pm) when they contest their final Toolstation Western League Division One fixture against Cadbury Heath.

The Bees have faded in recent months but victory at Springfield will lift them above Gillingham Town into 12th to hold the Dorset bragging rights.

Unfavourable results elsewhere mean Hutchinson’s much-publicised target of a top-half spot is now unattainable.

Nevertheless, success against higher-ranked opposition would alleviate some of the dejection that has surfaced during their barren spell.

Speaking ahead of the season’s climax, Hutchinson said: “There is still a lot to play for so we will be going all out and are looking to end the season with a win.

“Looking at the table we only needed a few more victories to make it into the top half but we’ve been too inconsistent over the past couple of months and that has cost us.

“If someone had offered me this position at the start of the campaign I would have taken it but I set high standards and am disappointed with how we’ve finished.

“It’s encouraging that there have been a lot of good points this year and if we work hard over the summer and bring in a couple of players that will stand us in good stead.”

Asked to outline which positions he wants to reinforce during the summer, Hutchinson replied: “Scoring has been a problem for us all season so we could do with a striker who is going to score 20 goals.

“We need an extra bit of quality on the pitch and some more experience but hopefully we’ll have Simon Radcliffe back and that will feel like a new signing.”

With a couple of key personnel struggling to recover from knocks, Hutchinson admitted he still has to determine the composition of tomorrow’s line-up.

Neither Russell Legg nor Gary Bulman is expected to start but there is better news regarding Chris Senior and Chris Clarke, both of whom should feature.

A run of one win in five plus a points deduction for fielding ineligible players dropped Cadbury out of promotion contention, but their 4-0 win over Almondsbury on Wednesday moved them back into fourth.
