MIDFIELDER Stephen Reed has insisted that he has not walked out on Weymouth and is still available for selection.

Terras' officials released a statement last night claiming that the 24-year-old exited the club before yesterday afternoon's training session due to "an internal club matter" but Reed is now denying he took such action.

He told Echosport this morning: "I have not left the club, I have just been asked to leave. I would have loved to train but Bobby Gould and Marcus Browning both said they did not want me to.

"I am available for selection for tonight's game and Sunday's game, and I want to play."

Weymouth will take on York City at the Wessex Stadium tonight (7.45pm) before completing their campaign with a trip to Wrexham on Sunday. The Terras need to win both games to stand any chance of retaining their Blue Square Premier status.

Reed was one of just a handful of players who stuck with the Radipole Lane outfit earlier this year despite not receiving any wages for two months. But the club has re-affirmed its decision to not include him in their squad for the rest of the season by releasing a second statement: "Stephen Reed's version of events is clearly at odds with that of other people's at the club. He has obviously reconsidered his position after taking advice.

"However, after recent events we do not feel his presence within the squad is conducive to a happy camp."
