WEYMOUTH Sports co-manager Steve Alcock wants his side to go full throttle at champions Parley Sports in the Dorset Senior League tomorrow (3pm).
A couple of weeks ago this fixture was looking like it could be a title-decider but a frustrating 0-0 draw at Bishops Caundle earlier this month ended up proving costly for the Seasiders, who have since had to settle for runners-up Sports.
Alcock’s men produced a tremendous 5-1 win over Easton United last Saturday but then followed that with a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Okeford United on Wednes-day, which was only their second home reverse of the campaign.
Steve Walker put the Seasiders ahead with a stunning volley only for late efforts from Mark Doble and Ben Chaffey to turn the tables.
Alcock said: “We were a couple of yards off the pace on Wednesday in a bit of a lacklustre performance, so we will be looking to put that right tomorrow. Despite having already cemented second spot, we want to make a good fist of it right until the end of the season and it would be great if we could go to the champions tomorrow and come away with a positive result.
“Overall we have had a good campaign but it is just a shame that we couldn’t quite take the title race right down to these last couple of games because I am sure it would have made it very interesting.”
Alcock will be without striker Derek Puckett tomorrow through suspension while Rob Rolls is expected to return.
