SUSPENDED skipper Kevin Hill believes his team-mates will get the result they require on Saturday to secure Blue Square South survival.
Dorchester Town lie just two points clear of the relegation zone after 20th-placed Thurrock beat Braintree Town on Tuesday night.
Thurrock must win their final game of the season, at home to Bath City, to stand any chance of leapfrogging the Magpies.
Should the Fleet taste victory then Dorchester would have to beat Bromley at the Jewson Stadium because of Thurrock’s superior goal difference.
Hill misses Saturday’s crunch clash, his first absence of the league campaign, due to a one-match ban and will be joined in the stands by Nick Crittenden and Mitchell Nicholson as they too serve suspensions.
The former Torquay United man said: “It’s really frustrating to miss out, as it is for Critts and Mitch as well. Critts is usually our most creative player but it gives others the chance to take responsibility.
“We just need to treat it like any other game because the more pressure you try to put in the game the more nervous the players will be. And with nerves comes mistakes.
“Thurrock have still got to win their last game but I think things will come together for us as we’ve improved in recent weeks.
“We’ve got a few players out but Gary Bowles should be back as he trained on Tuesday. Bromley haven’t got anything to play for and hopefully they’ll come here and not have their heads on the game.
“Our fate is in our own hands but I’m sure the fans will be kept on their toes and will be trying to find out what the score is in Thurrock’s game.”
And Hill is backing strikers Phil Walsh and Jacob Erskine to help fire the Magpies to safety.
The frontmen have scored just two goals between them but Hill believes the duo have improved in recent games.
He added: “They’ve been better over the last two or three games. It takes time to get used to each other but they look good up front together. We just need a bit more luck in front of goal.”
Looking ahead to next season, Hill said: “I’ve got another year on my contract so I’m going to be here unless they want to get rid of me.”
