WEYMOUTH Under-18s will need a positive result against their biggest foes tonight if they are to capture the South West Counties League title in front of their own fans at the Wessex Stadium (7.30pm).
The Terras bring the curtain down on their campaign this evening with a mouth-watering encounter against rivals Dorchester Town and the stakes could not be higher.
Weymouth currently sit top of the pile courtesy of a crucial three-goal advantage over nearest rivals Team Bath.
But nothing less than a win will do against the Magpies especially with Team Bath facing what is expected to be a comfortable trip to second-bottom Broadwey in their final fixture.
Terras’ boss Tim Davis said: “I would love to see a large crowd tonight as this would give the boys a tremendous lift.
“We managed to win 3-1 at Dorchester earlier in the season but they have some very good players in their squad and will no doubt provide us with a tough game.
“First and foremost we have to try and win but we also have to try and score as many goals as we can due to how close it is in the league, so spectators will be treated to a wide open affair.
“The boys have had a tremendous season and it would be a great achievement to land the title but if we don’t manage to pull it off it won’t be for the want of trying.
“For some reason we don’t play very well at the Wessex Stadium so it is time we put on a performance in front of a home crowd and gave people something to cheer.”
Captain Dan Critchel will lead the Magpies out for the last time and joining him will be Oliver Toogood and Craig Kellaway. All three players will be too old to represent the county town side next season.
Adam Lloyd may be given a chance to lead Dorchester’s attack with either Neil Kellaway or Lewis Trevett, while defender Mat Jones could be recalled to the starting line-up after recovering from illness.
