SOUTH Dorset MP Jim Knight has backed new Weymouth boss Bobby Gould to keep the club in the Blue Square Premier.
The Terras have four games left in which to secure their Conference status, starting with this afternoon’s clash against Ebbsfleet United at the Wessex Stadium.
And Knight, a keen Arsenal fan, has turned down a ticket to watch the Gunners take on Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup in-order to throw his support behind Gould’s men.
He said: “I have turned down a ticket to the Arsenal and Chelsea FA Cup semi-final because Weymouth’s game is so important. With a big vocal crowd behind the team today and against York City on Friday, I am sure we can stay up. I wish the team the very best of luck.”
The Terras, who are fourth-bottom on goal difference, travel to third-placed Histon on Tuesday before facing York in their final home game of the season on Friday.
With the Minstermen currently just one point behind Weymouth that clash is likely to prove crucial in both team’s quests for survival.
The Terras will then complete their campaign with a tough trip to Wrexham on April 26.
