BOSS Maurice Welch hopes his side can break their goal duck against Hamworthy Recreation tomorrow to reach the League Cup final.
Chickerell United have not found the net in each of their three matches against the Dorset Premier League heavyweights this season.
Last weekend’s semi-final at Cranford Avenue ended goal-less after 120 minutes despite the home side shading the balance of play.
And with local rivals Port-land United awaiting the winner, Welch is urging his players to grab the opportunity with both hands.
He said: “We are a free-scoring side but for some reason we haven’t put one away against Hamworthy.
“They are a good side but hopefully we can take a chance this time when it comes along. If we give them half a chance they will take it but so far we’ve been defensively excellent and haven’t given them a sniff.
“The last thing we want is another 120 minutes after last weekend and a tough game against Cranborne.”
He added: “We’ve still got a lot to play for in the league but getting to a cup final would be tremendous.”
Welch has recalled Dean Charles to his squad after losing Nick Etherington and Tom Hastie to injury, the latter nursing a broken ankle.
On Tuesday Chickerell travel to champions-elect Portland United for what could be a dress rehearsal for the final.
