BRAGGING rights will be up for grabs tomorrow as Weymouth Sports take on Easton United at Weymouth College (3pm).

Sports and Easton lie second and third in the Dorset Senior League respectively, with 10 points separating them, but neither side has much to play for as Parley have already secured the title.

However, both bosses are keen to come out on top in what is expected to be a close encounter.

The two teams have already met twice this season, in the league and Senior Trophy, with Sports winning 3-2 on both occasions.

Sports’ co-manager Steve Alcock, whose side drew 0-0 at Bishops Caundle last Saturday, said: “Whenever you play anyone locally there is always a good competitive rivalry. In recent seasons we seem to have had the better run against Easton but they’ve always been tight games often settled by a late goal.

“It’s going to be a tough ask but hopefully we’ll find the scoring touch we lacked last weekend because we do want to earn bragging rights.

“It would also be nice to put things out of doubt in terms of finishing in second place.”

Island boss Chris Wilson is hoping to see a reaction from his players after last week’s 2-0 loss at AC Matravers.

He said: “As a player and a manager these are the games you love to be involved in. Both sides haven’t got a great deal to play for besides local pride but it will be a tough game as Mark Nicholson and Steve Alcock have done a great job at Sports.

“We’ve had two great games against them this season and hopefully this one will be the same.”

Wilson added: “There were a few players who could’ve done better last week and hopefully they’ll want to put that right.

“As far as I know we’ll be at full strength, and we’ll have to be to take anything from the game.”

Easton are set to welcome back Terry Oldrid, Ben Simmonds and Stu Burley while Sports will be without the unavailable Robbie Rolls.
