CLUB skipper Clive Rennison spearheaded the drive-in at Came Down Golf Club by taking to the first with the Captain’s Driver.
The wooden headed club, which was presented by club members to the centenary captain Ian Clark in 1996, is handed to all newly-elected captains for their drive-in and Rennison took to it well by sending three cracking shots down the fairway.
Ladies’ captain Gaye Thompson and seniors’ captain Bernard Burke joined Rennison, but unfortunately juniors’ captain Matt Goodland was unwell and could not attend.
The day began with a Mixed Texas Scramble, which was won by Alan Wood, Chris Carter and Eileen McBride ahead of Tony Bryant, Dave Falconer and Roger Pinhey in second and Steve Vincent, Derek Tate and Margaret Watson in third.
A total of £125 was also raised for the Children’s Society, which is committed to making childhood better for all children in the UK.
Prize Winners: Club captain Clive Rennison’s drive-in: Hugh Lawes, Alan Wood, Tim Old.
Ladies’ captain Gaye Thompson’s drive-in: Brian Howe, Brian Hansford, Peter Stopforth.
Seniors’ captain Bernard Burke’s drive-in: Bim Downes, Ian Birch, Tony Lyall.
