EASTON United boss Chris Wilson believes his men contributed to their own downfall in a 2-0 Dorset Senior League defeat at AC Matravers.
The islanders could have closed the gap on second-placed Weymouth Sports to seven points with victory at Lytchett Matravers Rec, instead they lie 10 points adrift going into Satur-day’s clash between the two local rivals.
Wilson was left to reflect on a poor show from his side.
He said: “We dominated the game for much of the first half but we went in at half-time 1-0 down against the run of play. We had chances but were wasteful in front of goal.
“We still felt we were in control but we came out for the second half and weren’t at it, we stopped passing the ball and we got what we deserved.
“We had four players pull out before the game which left us thin on the ground but that’s no excuse because players could’ve put themselves in contention for the game against Weymouth Sports on Saturday.
“We had a minor blip against Moreton a few weeks ago but this was all our own doing, and with the exception of four or five, some of the players need to ask questions of themselves, which is a shame.
“When I know some players could’ve given more that’s the most disappointing thing.”
Easton remain third in the table with four games of the season left to play.
