CHICKERELL UNITED 0 HAMWORTHY RECREATION 0 (aet) CHICKERELL United and Hamworthy Recreation could not be separated at Weymouth College and must meet again in a bid to reach the Dorset Premier League Cup final.
Neither side could find a goal over 120 minutes so a replay at Hamworthy Recreation Club awaits with the winner set to meet Portland United in the final.
Chickens’ boss Maurice Welch was proud of his players’ efforts and believes they did enough to win the semi-final tie at the first attempt.
He said: “It was a very good game in which both sides tried to play football. We cancelled each other out but I thought we created the better chances.
“They had more possession but couldn’t break us down, while we had four or five chances we should have put away.
“I was pleased with the performance again and every one of the lads did me proud. Hopefully we’ll get the job done in the replay which I think could be played next Saturday now.
“The only downside was that we suffered two serious injuries. Nick Etherington has either bruised or cracked some ribs while Tom Hastie has broken his ankle.”
The Chickens return to league action today (3pm) with the visit of lowly Cranborne.
Chickens: A Weeks, Henley, Biles, Graham, Hastie (Beads 80), Smith, Hall, D Welch, Evans, White (Coltart 106), Etherington (Sibley 46).
