WEYMOUTH player-coach Marcus Browning has insisted that the Terras must go all out for the win at Lewes on Saturday to stand a chance of fending off the threat of relegation from the Blue Square Premier.

Browning returned to action in the 3-0 defeat at Eastbourne Borough last weekend after several weeks out with a calf injury and with Stephen Reed now back in contention following a lengthy ban, hopes are high that the club can finally end their barren run.

Browning said: “Saturday’s game is massive. We have lost our last 10 games and are now deep in the mire so we have no other choice but to go to Lewes and go all out for the win.

“The team is a bit stronger all-round the pitch now and with them being bottom of the league there will be no better opportunity for us to end our losing run and pick up some much-needed points.”

Browning’s experience could prove to be vital in the Terras’ quest to beat the drop but he wants the whole team to stand up and be counted.

He added: “I had only trained for five days before the game against Eastbourne so to play the full 90 minutes was hard. But my calf has come through it okay and although I was a bit stiff on Sunday and Monday I am now looking forward to getting back in the action on Saturday.

“The performance at Eastbourne was a bit more encouraging but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot with silly individual errors and it is now up to people to start taking responsibility.

“Having Stephen Reed back is certainly going to help because he is a player that has been around this level for quite a while and knows what to do at certain times in a game.

“No disrespect but not many of the lads have played many matches and although you can do training sessions and tell them stuff until you are blue in your face, if they do not make the right decisions in the right areas during a game it is very difficult. It is a steep learning curve that a lot of them need to learn very quickly.”

If Weymouth, just a point clear of the drop-zone, are to beat the drop they are going to have to start finding some goals. The Terras have not netted in 592 minutes and only scored twice in their last 10 games, with one of those coming via an own goal.
