Under-15 County Cup Final
CANNON COLTS 5 WEYMOUTH VICTORIA 1
WEYMOUTH Victoria enjoyed a fantastic day out despite being beating by the Colts in the County Cup final.
The day started early with players and supporters catching the team bus, courtesy of Barry’s Coaches, allowing plenty of time to get there for the 10.30am kick off.
Facing a tough Colts side, Victoria were immediately put under pressure after conceding an early goal.
The Bournemouth League side continued to pressurise the Victoria back four, but they held out resiliently until 10 minutes before half-time, when Colts scored a controversial second.
It appeared the Cannon striker had fouled Ryan Sers, with both keeper and defender stopping play, whilst the referee waved play on.
Sam Dodge narrowly missed reducing the deficit on the stroke of half-time, seeing his curLing shot glance the post on the way out.
In the second half Victoria took the game to the Colts only to get caught on the counter-attack.
Despite the scoreline Victoria did not give in and were rewarded when Roberts neatly sent Brown away down the right wing, cutting into the box and neatly slotting the ball home.
Victoria began to get control of the game sensing all was not lost and Sawyer was unlucky to see an effort ruled out for offside.
With time running out Victoria played with just three across the back, chasing the game, only to get caught by two late goals.
Despite the disappointment of losing the boys gallantly collected their runners-up trophies before returning to the Ta Dyo Adelphia restaurant for a post match celebration kindly hosted by George and Paulette Afedakis.
