DORCHESTER Athletics Club enjoyed a triumphant end to the Wessex League series.
The final cross-country match of the Wessex League was held at Avon Heath, Ringwood where the top four individuals and top five teams in each age group would be rewarded with a trophy.
And for the first time in the 10 years of the competition, Dorchester scooped a team trophy in the Under-13 girls’ age group.
The county town outfit’s second Under-13 girls’ team also tasted success by finishing in third spot.
In the individual contest, the club achieved three champions and a bronze medallist. The league champions were Beth Letherby in Under-13 girls, Freddie Cook in Under-17 men and Nick Ireland in Veteran men. Grace Smith took bronze in the Under-17 women’s category.
Meanwhile, in the Under-13 girls’ event, Laura Chitty placed fourth, Livvy Freeman fifth, Honor Slade eighth, Dervla Ireland ninth, Ciara McCarthy 10th and Hilary Hansford 11th.
Matthew Fry came fourth in the Under-13 boys’ race while Megan Edwards was fifth in Under-15 girls.
With the cross-country season now over, Dorchester’s athletes begin preparations for the start of the track campaign.
