SWANAGE T&H 0 CHICKERELL UTD 3

CHICKERELL United stretched their unbeaten run to nine games thanks to an impressive win at high-flying Swanage Town & Herston.

Andy Hall opened the scoring at Days Park two minutes ahead of half-time before substitute Liam Beads came off the bench to add a second and set up number three, which was dispatched by Nick Etherington.

Delighted boss Maurice Welch, whose side sit sixth in the Dorset Premier League, said: “It wasn’t a great ground or a great game as neither side was able to get the ball down and play.

“We did create the better chances and deservedly went ahead just before half-time. The second half was a bit of a stalemate until we changed things around. Liam Beads scored within five minutes of coming on before setting up Nick Etherington for the third.

“It wasn’t a pretty game but I was very pleased with the performance, and the fact we kept our shape and discipline.

“There wasn’t a star performer, I was pleased with everyone. The three at the back were superb again, as they have been all season, the lads in the middle worked hard, the wide men did well, and the boys up front created chances.

“I don’t think Swanage can have any arguments about the result.”

The Chickens can now look forward to a League Cup semi-final clash with Hamworthy Recreation a Weymouth College this Saturday.

Welch added: “We’re on a good run of form right now, which is pleasing. Swanage beat Hamworthy recently but I’m sure they’ll be tough to play.

“There’s a good shape about us at the moment and it’s all systems go.

“Hopefully the result at Swanage will make a few sit up and take notice. We know we can give anyone a game so we don’t fear anybody.”
