BRIDPORT RES 0 POOLE BOROUGH 5

POOLE Borough moved into second place in the Dorset Premier League after hitting the Bees for five at St Mary’s Field.

With Bees’ manager Mike Savage looking to give his team every chance to shine prior to the forthcoming Dorset Senior Trophy final, the Bees started brightly against one of the league’s high-fliers.

For the first 20 minutes it was difficult to see which way the game would go.

A dubious decision by the officials allowed a foul on James Maidment to go unpunished and allowed the visitors to take a somewhat fortuitous lead.

The disappointment of conceding a goal after playing well was a set back for the young Bees and Boro-ugh were quick to take advantage with another goal shortly after.

Poole virtually finished the game off with a further strike before half-time.

The Bees came out in the second half and again for 15 to 20 minutes were the equal of the visitors, but found that chasing a three-goal deficit was too much of a handicap and conceded another two in the half.

After the game Savage gave credit to the visitors.

He said: “I knew it was going to be tough against Poole but I was disappointed that we conceded five.

“Too many players let their heads drop and I will make changes for our next game against Blandford on Saturday.”
