The return of one of Weymouth's most prolific striker's is set to be a 'big boost' according to Mark Molesley.

Brandon Goodship has been sidelined since the end of August and made his return to playing in the final few minutes of Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Weston-super-Mare.

The striker's return has been carefully managed in order to ensure he stays fit for the rest of the season, but with a few minutes under his belt, Molesley is hoping he can bring some much needed goals to the team.

He said: "Having Brandon get on the pitch the other night was a big boost for the team.

"He is a huge icon of Weymouth Football Club and it is important we have all our players available.

"He can help score goals, it is what he lives and breaths for - scoring in a Weymouth shirt.

"We have had to be patient and not rush him back though as he has been out for a while but to see him back on the pitch was great."

It is no secret that Molesley's side has been lacking in front of the goal this season and the return of Goodship comes at a crucial time for the club.

With five league games, including today's visit of St Albans, an FA Trophy tie with Weston-super-Mare and a Dorset Senior Cup clash with Wimborne before the end of the month, Molesley will need all he can get to keep the squad fresh.

The 30-year-old striker has scored 94 goals in 176 apps for the Terras, 39 of which were scored in the 2018/19 Southern Premier title winning season.
