Swindon Supermarine: 1

Dorchester Town FC: 0

The Magpies were narrowly beaten 1-0 following a trip to Swindon Supermarine in the Southern Premier South on Saturday.

Dorchester boss Tom Killick made three changes from last weekends heated cup defeat to AFC Totton as Wes Fogden, Matt Buse and Marcus Daws all start with Will Spetch and Shaq Gwengwe missing out through suspension.

Corby Moore had the first chance for the Magpies after the quarter of an hour mark with a strike, but his effort whistled over the crossbar.

Five minutes later, Dorchester thought they had earned a penalty after Olaf Koszela went down in the area following a challenge from a Swindon defender, but nothing was given by the referee.

After 35 minutes, the Magpies had another chance to break the deadlock when Jordan Ngalo went through on goal. Despite his efforts, the shot trickled wide of the post and out of play.

Marcus Daws had another opportunity soon after, but his shot also hit the advertisement boards.

It was all Dorchester before halftime, with a chance in the final moments of the first 45 minutes. Koszela did well to give himself space to carve out a shot, but the Swindon keeper parried the effort away for a corner.

Despite their first half dominance, the Magpies went behind after 47 minutes, through a fine effort from Harry Williams although somewhat against the run of play.

Koszela looked determined to find a way back into the game for the Magpies, and came agonisingly close after 53 minutes. Standing over a free-kick on the edge of the area, the Polish striker took on the set-piece, which was tipped onto the post by the goalkeeper.

Daws again had another chance just a minute after the save was made, but this time, his strike was well-saved by the keeper- who was looking in form on the day.

Killick rolled the dice with ten minutes to go, bringing on Kyran Samadi for Wes Fogden. Samadi joined Wayne Robinson, who came on for Buse after the hour mark, and Ollie Haste, who replaced Daws after 64 minutes.

Substitute Robinson tried his luck from range with ten minutes left on the clock, but again, the Swindon goalkeeper was strong to make the save.

Despite five minutes of added time being shown on the fourth official’s board, Dorchester could not find that elusive equaliser, and returned back to Dorset empty handed.

The result sees the Magpies drop to sixth in the league, with their next visit, a trip to eighth placed Bracknell Town on Saturday.

Magpies Starting XI: Benfield, Dickson, Bragg, Turner, Pardoe, Moore, Ngalo, Buse, Fogden, Daws, Koszela. Subs: Haste, Holmes, Samadi, Roberts, Robinson.
