Portland United suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat against Millbrook FC upon their visit to the Test Park Sports Ground in the Wessex League Premier last weekend.

The Blues were without Jack Delves, Hayden Scott and Greg Borthwick going into the game, but the side were given a boost with the return of Jamie Cleaver and Jacob Coomb.

The Dockers had their first chance after nine minutes when Jamie White found his way into the box, but the chance was dragged just wide.

White showed his composure by getting past his defender in the seventeenth minute to open the scoring following a searching long ball up the pitch from Callum Drake. White had no trouble slotting it past keeper Harrison Bruton.

Soon after the half hour mark, Portland got their first dangerous opportunity in front of goal when Coombs drove the ball forward before threading a pass through to Patrick Jenkins. The goalkeeper was quick to come off his line to deny the striker space and make a save.

The Dockers’ lead was doubled after 36 minutes as White bagged his brace. He received a threaded ball from Bobby Gorman, and shrugged off his challenge to fire the effort into the far corner.

Moments later, Portland were looking to cut the deficit and came close through Coombs after what was a fizzing cross from the left. Coombs took on the effort at the first time of asking but it went wide of the post.

Mikey O’Connell made it 3-0 after 41 minutes. The midfielder managed to spin past his man in the area before firing across the face of goal.

On the stroke of half time Jenkins had made a chance of his own following a dazzling dribble that saw him slalom through the Millbrook defenders, but his shot is well saved by the keeper.

It was a quiet second half of proceedings, up until the 76th minute, when the home side made it 4-0. Pelham cuts back for Alex Sawyer to slot in for 4 With five minutes left of the game, Millbrook asserted their dominance and made it 5-0.
