Magpies boss Tom Killick said he was frustrated that his side couldn’t take advantage in their narrow defeat in the FA Trophy to Totton over the weekend in which he was shown a red card.
Dorchester were knocked out of the cup competition in a 1-0 defeat away from home.
Former Poole Town striker Tony Lee grabbed the only goal of the heated game, in which both sides saw red through Shaq Gwengwe, as well as ex-Magpies and Terras midfielder Tom Blair for the home side.
Speaking after the game, the Dorchester manager said there ‘wasn’t much between the two sides.’
He said: “It was always going to be a small margin, they managed to grab the only goal and took advantage. It's frustrating that we didn't take advantage."
Dorchester pushed hard for an equaliser and were denied a late penalty after Marcus Daws appeared to be brought down in the box.
Speaking on the decision not to award a penalty, Killick said: “We were clearly denied one of the clearest penalties you will see, and I think the referee caused frustrations for both sides through delays and stoppages- there was nine minutes of added time in the end.
“Overall, we only have ourselves to blame, and we didn’t have that cutting edge.
Speaking about being shown a red card, Killick said: “I don’t know why I got sent off- I wanted to speak to him about the penalty claim, and his performance in general.
“It’s a shame, because it was a game between two great sides, a real spectacle, and was ruined by the referee, which has cost us dearly."
Gwengwe will be unavailable for this weekend’s clash between the Magpies and Swindon Supermarine in the National League South.
