Strange atmospheric conditions greeted the players at the Came Down Golf Club on Saturday for their Royal British Legion 4BBB competition.
Misty fog delayed the start of proceedings, followed by a rare phenomenon, a fog bow, captured on camera by Nigel Whitefield.
Once the mist had cleared it was a beautiful day. Fifty pairs competed and the winners were Roger Chadwick and Alan Simpson with 45 points winning on count back from Mark Osborne and Jonty Archibald.
In third spot were Murray Legg and Joshua O’Connor with 43, Hylton Jackson and David Hicks taking fourth place also with 43 points.
Players were thanked for taking part in this annual event and contributing to raise £200 for the RBL Poppy Appeal.
On Sunday, a ‘fun’ Cross Country team event was held. The course was designed by Dave Allen and Peter Fry, with some very interesting and challenging holes. Navigating the course and bringing in the winning score were Ross Cumber, Woody Jones, Lewis Phillips & Malcolm Cumber with a score of 22.3. In second - Dominic Simons, Steve Broadhurst, Ian Davies & Pete Gray on 23.6 and third place went to Mark Bonnett, Alan Jolliffe, James Baker & Andy Symm with 23.8.
