WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has praised his team after fighting back to earn a point away at Bath City on Tuesday night.
Attacking midfielder Christie Ward netted his first goal for the club as the Terras earned a well deserved point.
Weymouth had been on top for most of the first half, but were caught out early after the break as Alex Fisher put the Romans ahead.
Ward was sent off though with five minutes to go after picking up a second yellow card for simulation, a decision Molesley described as 'bizarre', as the Terras hung on for the point.
Molesley was left feeling that the team could have picked up all three points, but praised his team's resilience after a game that through a few curveballs at the team.
Speaking after the game he said: "Am I pleased?, yes and no.
"We know we need to get wins but a point away to Bath is always good.
"So, all things taken into account, finishing with ten men, we will take it.
"It was a real positive performance, we played well, but I think we were let down by the officiating.
"We have been on the back end of a bizarre decision, but we rallied and fought, so I am pleased with the resilience of the group."
Ward had two opportunities to take the lead in the first half when Weymouth were creating plenty of chances through the new look attack featuring Ward and Jaiden Bartolo
When asked about how well the team created chances with the two Wycombe Wanders loanees up top, Molesley said: "In the first half we were really strong and the takeaway from that is we need to punish teams when we are having moments of being on top.
"We came close with Christie hitting the post and then their keeper coming out to save one, we were just the right weight of pass away from going ahead.
He added: "They got the upper hand in the second half, we started slow, that is an area we need to improve on and a mistake from us cost us.
"But after that shaky 10 minutes in the second half, we looked good.
"Then the bizarre decision comes (Ward sending off) and we had to make sure we took the point.
"The players can be proud of their efforts but we are a bit disappointed it is only a point."
Next up for the Terras is National League South leaders Farnborough at the Bob Lucas on Saturday.
