DORCHESTER 1

Gwengwe 53

DORCHESTER returned to winning ways thanks to a Shaq Gwengwe second half goal in the Southern League on Tuesday night.

In a game that Dorchester controlled, the away side may have felt they should have been leading at half time after carving out several chances.

Olaf Koszela and Wayne Robinson both had chances to open the scoring but were unable to get the Magpies ahead.

However, Plymouth rarely troubled Gerard Benfield in the Magpies and once Gwengwe opened the scoring, Dorchester controlled the game and saw out the match.

Tom Killick made three changes from the weekend defeat to Hanwell as Gwengwe returned from suspension, with Ieuan Turner and Robinson also coming into the starting line up.

Koszela had an early chance to put the Magpies ahead, but the club's top goal scorer fired over the bar after two minutes.

Dorchester had started the game quickly and forced a number of corners early on, before Robinson saw an effort cleared off the line.

The striker was unable to get enough power on his header at the back post which allowed Lee to clear the ball.

Plymouth created a couple of half chances but were limited mainly to strikes from distance which failed to trouble Benfield as the teams entered half time level.

Dorchester came out fast again after the break with Marcus Daws having a couple of chances early into the half.

Then, on 53 minutes, Gwengwe put the Magpies ahead after Ngalo's defence splitting pass found the striker who lobbed the ball over Parkway's keeper.

Five minutes later Plymouth had a chance to equalise after a corner was flicked on but the Parkway striker Dylan Jones was unable to sort his feet out to get a shot away.

With just over an hour played Dickson's marauding run saw the full back try his luck but his strike was well saved at the front post.

On 75 minutes Parkway had their best chance of the game but Jones fired over the bar.

The game fizzled out and there were few chances in the final fifteen minutes and Dorchester saw the game over the line to get back to winning ways.

The win means the Magpies move up one place into fourth place in the Southern League Premier South.

Next up for Dorchester is a trip to AFC Totton in the FA Trophy.
