BATH CITY 1

Fisher 46

WEYMOUTH 1

Ward 75

WEYMOUTH came back from Twerton Park with a well deserved point after Christie Ward scored his first goal for the club.

Mark Molesley's side created several chances in the first half with Ward and Jaiden Bartolo linking up well.

However, Alex Fisher's goal just after the break put the Romans ahead before Ward equalised with 15 minutes to go.

The young attacking midfielder was the dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 85th minute as the Terras saw out the remainder of the game with 10 men.

Skipper Tom Bearwish was absent from the matchday squad after picking up an injury and was replaced by Josh McQuoid.

The Terras new Gibraltan international striker Bartolo looked sharp from the off and was denied in the opening exchanges by Bath keeper Harvey Wiles- Richards.

Bartolo was then through on goal minutes later, but the striker had strayed fractionally offside.

Will Buse was then called into action and denied Fisher on the half-volley with a brilliant save.

Nick Grimes was the next to Buse but his weak header was easily claimed by the Weymouth keeper. as both teams probed in the opening 15 minutes.

The Terras came close in the 21st minute after Greenwood picked out Christie who slammed his effort on the post.

As the game approached the half hour mark, more chances fell to Bartolo, Ward, Greenwood and Pollock as the Terras knocked on the door in Somerset.

However, come the half-time whistle, the deadlock had yet to be broken.

The Romans were the first to throw a punch in the second half as a Grimes cross came off Jordon Thompson, falling straight to Fisher who slotted the ball past Buse.

With the Terras trailing after an hour played, Molesley looked to his bench and brought on Keelan O'Connell and Jordan Maguire-Drew as they went in search of an equaliser.

Then, with 15 minutes left on the clock, Ward was on hand to fire home into an empty net after Wiles-Richards parried the ball into the attackers path.

The yellow card left Molesley fuming with the decision , resulting in the Terras boss also receiving a yellow card.

With that, both teams settled for a point and Weymouth have now lost just once in their last five National League South games.
