After a week break, the South West Dorset Netball League was back in action last week a match day five took place.
Wagamams 35
Buglers 37
Premier Division side Wagamams started strong, although, Buglers fought back with some good possession as they led by the end of the first quarter.
Wagamamas started strong again and closed the gap as they moved the ball down the court. Buglers attack fought back strong, but Wagamamas held the lead after the second quarter.
In the third quarter Buglers started well controlling the ball to make secure passes and a tactical change from them saw the pace pick up as they closed the gap on the scores
A close fought final quarter saw both teams evenly matched and the scores even in this fast pace game. Despite Wagamamas defence creating turnovers in the circle it was Buglers that took the win.
Zest 19
Evolve Tuning 33
In Division One, Evolve opened the scoring in their game with Zest, with Evolve’s GA Summer Donoghue making some great accurate shots.
Zest’s hard working defence saw them close the gap slightly, although, Evolve worked well down the court with their GD Jess Frampton making some incredible interceptions
Zest continued to work well to not let the lead increase and continued to fight hard with their attack moving the ball down court and WA Lauren Kenny feeding the ball strongly into the shooters
Evolve made a tactical change to give them fresh legs on court in the final quarter and extended extended their lead to take the win.
Artifex Sirens 58
The Malboro 25
Division Two's Sirens started off strong with some accurate passing from C Freya Cartwright into the shooters.
Malboro had some good centre court play themselves but struggled to convert this into goals in the first quarter.
Good defence from both teams saw a slower start to the second quarter and they both struggled to get the ball to their shooters. Once they settled into play Sirens good shooting partnership of Millie Hyde and Jemima Gomm saw some great goals. Malboro were relentless in closing the gap with their GA Linzi Gardner returning from injury to score some long distance goals.
Sirens extended their lead with the good shooting partnership of GA Jemima Gomm and GS Millie Hyde.
Sirens GK Christine Jones’ consistent defending and mid court back up helped her team to dominate play, and despite Malboro’s, efforts it was Sirens were victorious.
Warmer B 31
Artifex Calypso 26
Elsewhere in Division Two, Calypso took an early lead against Warmer thanks to consistent shooting from GS Anya Denny and GA Vicky Hall.
Good pressure from both teams especially Warmer’s GD Gemma Bevins and C Evie Dredge allowed their team to level the score.
However, good defence from Warmer’s GK Nancy Robinson and accurate shooing from GA Maisie Mussenden allowed them to dominate to secure victory.
