DORCHESTER Town manager Tom Killick was left disappointed after his team conceded three 'soft' goals in their defeat to Hanwell on Saturday.

The Magpies suffered their first home defeat of the season as Hanwell scored three unanswered goals at the Avenue.

Killick has put the defeat down to a combination of poor attacking and defensive play.

Speaking after the game he said: "It was a strange one really, for long periods we controlled and dominated possession, but the goals we conceded were soft and gave us a real task.

"Our attacking play was insipid and going behind early encouraged them  - it was pretty bad."

At 1-0, Dorchester did have several chances to get back in the game, and when asked if a lack of a clinical edge cost them the points, Killck added: "That combined with the soft goals yeah.

"We did have chances but we were not in any way incisive and we lacked quality in our attack which is unusual for us."

There is no time for the Magpies to stew over the defeat though, as Plymouth Parkway head to the Avenue tonight.

Despite the Devon-based club languishing in 20th place, Killick expects a difficult game, but admits that the defeat at the weekend means there is more pressure on this game to stay with the teams at the top of the table.

Speaking ahead of the game, he added: "I think the way the league table is, if we get three points we are still in a good position, but results like Saturday mean we are desperate for the points to stay in touch with the leading pack.

"They (Plymouth) have got some good players. I watched them a few weeks ago against Poole and they were probably the better side on the day even if they did lose 3-1 in the end.

"At 1-1 they looked the most likely to win it, but you could tell confidence was low.

"But an FA Trophy win and the win on Saturday (against Chertsey) will have given them more belief and that makes them dangerous.

"It's going to be a difficult night and we will try and make amends."

There are no injury concerns ahead of the match and 'everyone is fine,' meaning that Killick has a full squad to pick from.

Striker Shaq Gwengwe will return after serving a one match ban having picked up two yellow cards in the 2-2 draw with Marlow.

Kick off at the Avenue is at 7.45pm on Tuesday, October 22.
