PORTLAND UNITED joint manager Josh hickman was left 'delighted' with his team's performance against Weymouth in the Dorset Senior Cup.
The Blues may have lost 3-0 to Mark Molesley's side, but the Portland-based club were able to match their rivals from across the bay for long periods of the game.
Hickman was left 'a little surprised' with how strong Weymouth lined up, with many of the team's first team regulars starting the game.
Despite the loss, Hickman believes the team's performance means they should fear no one this season.

He said: "We went toe-to-toe with a National League side.
"We are not going to play any team better off or on the ball this season.
"It was a really good performance, and to be honest in the first half, it was a really even game.
"Jamie Hosking had a good one-on-one and we limited their chances, so I am delighted with the players, we played a really good Weymouth side.
"The way we respected Weymouth is how we need to respect teams in the Wessex League.
"It was a really positive performance and we need to look to build off of that and keep developing as the season goes on.
