The hockey season is up and running but it has not started all that well for Weymouth's four teams.

The men's first team got their campaign underway with a 5-3 loss away to Bournemouth 4s before recording a 4-3 win over Trojans in their first home game at Redlands, with Jamie Bellingham grabbing a hattrick.

The firsts then registered a 5-0 walkover loss to Chichester Friars and in their most recent game last weekend, the travelled to Basingstoke without a goalkeeper and lost 4-1.

After three defeats and one win, the team sit in tenth place, two spots above the bottom in the South Central Men's Division 4 South table, and take on Romsey 2s this Saturday (October 19).

The men's second team have not faired much better either in the South Central Men's Division 1 Forest, having lost all four of their five games so far.

A 2-1 loss on the opening day to Southampton Otters was followed up by a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth 5s before a heavy 5-0 loss Romsey Renegades.

After that another, 5-0 defeat came at the hands of Blandford & Sturminster before their first win, a 3-2 win over Poole 3s with goals from from Joe Gould, Nick Chubb and Will Austin.

It leaves the team 13th out of 14 teams in the league table ahead of their trip to Eastleigh this weekend.

The ladies first team are currently bottom of the West Women's Division 2 Central table after three back-to-back defeats themselves.

Despite a good opening day performance against Gillingham, the team lost 3-1 at Redlands.

In their second match against Sidmouth & Ottery 1, it was a heavy 7-0 loss and in their most recent game, last weekend, the team were narrowly defeated 2-1 by ECVH 1.

Next up for the ladies first team is an away trip to Winscombe 1s.

The ladies second team have won one of their opening three games of the season so far, but have also suffered two defeats, leaving them in fourth place in the West Women's Wessex Division 2, six points off top place Sherborne & Yeovil who they face next on Saturday.

The team opened their season with a 4-0 loss to Mendip 2 but followed that opening defeat with a 6-2 over Bridgwater at Redlands but were defeated last time out to Taunton Vale 5s 4-2.

As the season continues, all four teams will be hoping their picks up and with that a rise up the league tables.
