DORCHESTER Town manager Tom Killick says the club's 2-2 draw with Marlow was a 'missed opportunity'.

The Magpies came up against the Southern League Premier South's bottom side on Saturday, and despite goals from Shaquille Gwengwe and Corby Moore, Marlow came from behind twice to deny Killick's side three points.

Gwengwe was also sent off for two bookable offences, the first of which Killick labelled as 'ridiculous' and believes the sending off affected the out come of the game.

Killick said: "We started well and got in front, but the we allowed them back into the game.

"We got infront again and then we were forced down to 10 men, which was quite significant and had an effect and we conceded another.

"It was a frustrating day and we missed an opportunity to get three points.

"It is not so much that we played the bottom team, it's how the game panned out, we thought we should have won and the sending off caused that.

"I believe with 11 men we would have won the game."

On Gwengwe's sending off he added: "I felt the ref made a mistake with Shaq's first yellow card.

"We were probably thinking of taking him off and his sending off happened just before we did that.

"I have no complaints about the second yellow but the first one was ridiculous.

"The lesson learned is we need to react quicker to that Shaq situation, but I don't blame Shaq."

There is a quick turnaround to Dorchester's next game with Sholing hosting Killick's side at the Mortgage Decisions Stadium later today.

Killick will not be underestimating tonight's opposition though with the Southampton-based club on the heels of Dorchester in seventh place, level on points.

Speaking ahead of the game, Killick said: "I've got a lot of respect for what Sholing do , they are trying to push forward but on and off the field.

"They have a good squad and over time they will improve further and away on a Tuesday night means it is going to be difficult.

"We are feeling a bit stung from Saturday, so we have to use that in a positive way.

"They have ambitions, the same as we have, to push to get out of this league.

"You would feel they are a side that will be competing for the play offs, so we will not be underestimating them."

Tom Bragg will miss the trip to Hampshire though after being taken off at half time in the draw with Marlow.

Killick confirmed it was a knee injury and the club are awaiting a full assessment of the players condition before determining how long he may be out for.

Gwengwe will be available though, as his suspension will not kick in until Saturday when they welcome Hanwell Town to the Avenue

Kick off at the Mortgage Decisions Stadium is at 7.45pm on Tuesday, October 15.
