Dorchester Sports remain top of the Dorset Premier League after a 'brilliant' performance against Holt United on Saturday.

Goals from Alex Godfrey and Sam Poole saw Ashley James' side stay top of the table after a 2-1 win over the Wimborne-based club.

Dorchester's closest rivals Bournemouth Sports kept the pressure up with a 6-0 win over Hamworthy Recreation Reserves who remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Cobham Sports jumped up into third after a 4-1 at home to Poole Borough after Westland Sports dropped points away to Wimborne Town Reserves drawing 2-2.

Balti Sports' dreadful form continued as they lost 6-3 to Portland Reserves, meaning the Weymouth club slip down into the relegation zone.

Elsewhere in the division, Blandford United FC beat Hamworthy Recreation Reserves 6 - 3 to go fifth and level on points with Westland, Bridport Reserves earned a point at home to Sherborne Town Reserves with a 1-1 draw, and Swanage Town & Herston won 2 - 0 against Bournemouth Electric.

Speaking after the game,James said: "We had a really shaky start for the opening stages and Holt were really on top, but after we changed it I thought we were brilliant and deserved the three points, it was probably our best performance of the season."
