Puddletown return to home soil on Saturday as they go searching for their fifth win in five as Dockers make the journey west from Christchurch.

Following their scalp over the Ridgeway against Weymouth & Portland, the Villagers head into this weekend in a position that none at the club would've predicted at the start of September.

Four wins in the opening four games see them top of the league with 19 points, 9 points ahead of their nearest rivals, albeit having played two games more.

Making the trip to Greenfields are the East Dorset Dockers, a team looking to improve on their away form.

They kicked off the season with a victory against Swanage & Wareham second team before a humbling defeat at the hands of Bridport in west Dorset.

They do however come into this fixture on the back of a victory.

North Dorset’s second team made the trip to Iford Lane and Dockers put on a show, running away 34-8 winners to leave them fourth going into Saturday's game.

The home advantage is key in this fixture with the last time a team winning away being 2018 when Dockers, before their merger with East Dorset, won 38-0 at Greenfields

Puddle’s side for Saturday comes with some changes from last weekend's victory.

Gruff James and Ben Sirl return to the squad for the first time since the Swans game and Alex Kley his first since Bridport. There is also a debut on the cards for utility player Owen Habbershaw, a student at Bournemouth University.

The Piddle Valley side will however, be without top try scorer James Elwood & captain Tom Yeatman who are unavailable.

Despite being without some key players, coach Jacob Holt remains in high spirits following last weekend's success.

He said: “I am proud of the guys, naturally you feel a bit nervous sending them south but they used the tools they were given with extreme effect.

"It’s great to see guys like Andy Edmunds, who’s only played rugby for two years, turn up and be a key figure in games like this.

"We know we’re still fishing for a solid all round performance and I’m confident if we bait the hook well, the fish will feed.”

Echoing his coaches thoughts prop Gruff James, returning from injury, believes his side can keep up their 100 per cent record.

He added: "It's good to get back out onto the pitch after a few weeks out. As nice as it is to see the boys winning the anguish not being out there really sets in.

“Having seen some of the performances since I've been out I'm under no illusions that I have to chuck in 110% to win back that starting jersey, it is hard to displace lads who are winning.

"A lot of teams pre-season talk about how they want to make their home pitch a fortress and with our two big wins against Oaks and Bridport I can't help but be optimistic ahead of this one, mighty oaks from little acorns grow”

The game at Greenfields tomorrow kicks off at 3pm.
