PORTlAND United were narrowly beaten 2-1 at the Camp & Satherley in the Wessex League Premier on Saturday afternoon. 

Greg Borthwick scored from the spot just before half time after the Blues had fallen a goal behind, but Ethan Fishlock's second half strike meant all three points went back to Bournemouth. 

Both sides had chances in the first half with Jack Delves coming closest for the home side after nine minutes.

Michael Wearden then forced Harrison Bruton into a good save with a close range header after 35 minutes as both sides probed for an opener.

Poppies would break the deadlock five minutes later as Ethan Cheshire headed home from a cross in the 40th minute.

Borthwick continued his goal scoring run four minutes later as he converted from the spot to take the teams into the break level at 1-1.

In the second half Josh Camp came close with an effort which was saved by the poppies keeper before Lewis Toms also saw an effort saved,

With the game entering the final ten minutes the away side would snatch a winner in what was a closely fought game.

Fishlock's shot from inside the area beat Bruton and gave Poppies the win to leapfrog Portland into seventh place in the table.
