WEYMOUTH 1

WORTHING 1

Cashman 15

CHARLIE Rowan's second half free kick earned Weymouth a well deserved draw at the Bob Lucas on Saturday.

Mark Molesley's side battled hard as they earned a point against Worthing in the Vanarama National League South.

The away side struck first with a spectacular hit from Danny Cashman before Charlie Rowan fired home from 25 yards with twenty minutes to go,

The Terras named an unchanged side from their 4-1 win over Sholing in the FA Cup last weekend as the club's early season injury woes begin to let up.

Weymouth's on loan keeper Will Buse was in fine form in his first league start for the club and was called into action early on.

Worthing's Tommy Willard forced the young keeper into a save low down in the opening ten minutes with the away side on top in the early exchanges.

Weymouth would come close themselves shortly after as Jordon Thompson sent a header straight onto the post from a corner.

Then with just 15 minutes on the clock, the visitors got themselves in front thanks to a wonderful strie from Cashman.

The Worthing forward shifted the ball onto his left foot and thumped his strike into the far corner from just outside the box.

Worthing were playing well in the opening 20 minutes and deserved their lead but Weymouth had looked threatening on the break throughout.

Rebels' keeper Chris Haigh was booked for handling the ball outside the area in the 26th minute as he raced to collect the ball.

Jordan Maguire-Drew failed to take advantage of the free kick though as he fired high and wide.

With half an hour played Buse was on hand to deny worthing a second as he parried a vicious strike from Mo Faal with one hand.

The Terras almost levelled things up before the break but were again denied by the woodwork as Josh McQuoid's free kick came back off the cross bar

After the break worthing came out the better of the two sides with Faal the first to create a chance but Buse again denied the Worthing forward.

Weymouth upped their game and came close thanks to a Rowan header but the midfielder's effort went wide of the right post

Weymouth keeper Buse pulled out another brilliant save to deny Faal again as he tipped the forward’s close range effort on to the bar in an excellent piece of goalkeeping.
With twenty minutes to go, Weymouth finally managed to get their well deserved goal.
Rowan’s 25 yard free kick was too much for Haigh who spilt the Weymouth midfielder’s effort over the line.
As the game entered the final five minutes, The Terras were the side in the ascendency
Weymouth striker Jake Scrimshaw came close to causing some late drama, although his effort on the stretch went over the bar.
Rebels keeper Haigh then produced a fine block to deny a Weymouth winner as Brooklyn Genesini fired a strike in at goal.
Despite the late pressure, Molesley’s side could not grab a winner but would be happy with a point against a strong Worthing side.
The draw leaves Weymouth in 23rd place, one point off bottom side St Albans, however, Molesley’s side have now gone three games without defeat.
