Dorchester Town's form has picked up in recent weeks but manager Tom Killick is cautious of this week's Southern League fixture.

Chertsey Town visit the Avenue this weekend as the Magpies go in search of three home wins on the bounce.

Killick's side have risen to sixth in th eleague and are on the cusp of the playoff places after beating league leaders AFC Totton 3-2 last weekend.

However, the Magpies coach has already warned of his team becoming too complacent after a few good results and has reiterated that point ahead of Saturday's game.

He said: "The thing is, it is so important to not get carried away and get ahead of ourselves.

"Chertsey are a good team, they have have a good start to the season and they have some good players, so we need to guard ourselves against the players and supporters from getting carried away.

"We have had a good performance in one game against Totton last weekend but it is only a small step of where we want to get to and we don't want to end up putting in a poor performance against Chertsey and going back to where we started.

"So we need to produce those levels again on Saturday."

Dorchester will be without captain Jordan Ngalo who is serving a three match ban after being sent off in the 4-0 win over Frome and is hopeful that Wes Fogden will be available for selection, which will be a 'big plus' according to the Magpies coach.

Other than that Killick has a full squad to pick from, something he is hoping will continue as the season progresses.

When asked if having an almost full squad to pick from would create a selection headache ahead of the game, Killick added: "Exactly that, we have not got a massive squad.

"People talk about luck of injuries evening themselves out over the season, but you can get to the end of the season and feel lucky or unlucky with injuries by the end of the season.

"But in my opinion those things have a big influence on how well you do and I hope that it continues this way as it does have an affect on the season goes."

Depending on results, Dorchester could leapfrog Basingstoke inot fifth place by 5pm on Saturday evening and into the playoff spots.

A defeat though could see the Magpies slip down to 10th place with the early league table tight at this stage in the season.

Kick off at The Avenue is at 3pm on Saturday, September 21.
