More than £6,000 has been raised for Dorset County Hospital by golfers in Weymouth.
Weymouth Golf Club has held its annual 'Pink Day' to raise money to support those affected by cancer - which has raised £100k since it started in 2009.
The event was born out of tragedy following the death of club member Rebecca (Becky) Mabb, wife of the club’s head green keeper Rob Mabb, who sadly lost her brave fight with cancer in 2009.
This year, 47 four ball teams, from across the county and beyond, many dressed in outlandish ‘pink’ attire, enjoyed excellent weather. T
The winning four ball of Tony Chambers Steve Marsh, Tim Stevens and Gary Bond won The Rebecca Mabb Trophy with a magnificent score of 133 points.
The money raised for The Fortuneswell Ward at Dorset County Hospital totalled £6,462 bringing the total raised by the event since its inception to some £100k.
This year the money raised in a variety of ways included entry fees, refreshments at the Half Way House, a raffle and an auction.
A special mention to the local businesses and the many golf clubs in Dorset and surrounding counties, who gave items for the auction.
