It over 120 minutes and a penalty shootout for Portland Reserves to beat high-flying Bournemouth Sports in the Dorset Premier League Cup.
In a game packed with action and goals, the Blues were able to progress to the next round after coming from a goal behind to win in the shootout.
Golas from Troy Walbridge and Sanchez Baker (2) saw the Blues in a commanding position before two late goals from Bournemouth took the tie to extra time.
Both sides then scored again in extra time as the game wen to penalties after anothe rlate Bournemouth equaliser.
Bournemouth would take the lead early on, after just seven minutes as Max Mountford found the net after a corner had caused confusion amongst the Blues' defenders.
Then just before half time Portland levelled things up in the 40th minute.
Walbridge was fouled inside the area and stepped up to tuck away the resulting spot kick.
The Blues came out after the break the better side and got themselves in front in the 70th minute through Baker.
The lues forwardw ould then double his tally and extend Portland's lead to 3-1 with a powerful header.
With ten mins to play, the Blues were forced into a few changes and that took time to adapt, and they got punished for a mistake at the back when James Bergin scored.
Bournemouth threw the kitchen sink at Portland without too many clear cut chances, but in the 96th minute a great cross came in and fell kindly to Bergin who rifled it in to take the game in to extra time full time.
As extra time played out, it took until the second period for either team to score as Josh Tennant fired a shot in that clipped the underside of the crossbar to Portland in front again.
With five minutes to play Sports through everything at Portland, eventually a fortunate knock down found Jack Voisey who smashed home to take it to the lottery of penalties.
Portland would go on to win 5-4 on penalties and went through in a game that was truly a cup classic.
