Royal Wootton Bassett II 41
Dorchester 14
Dorchester made the long journey to Wiltshire and returned empty handed having been well beaten by their hosts.
Royal Wooten Bassett scored with their first attack, the left winger running in a simple overlap.
The conversion went wide but the writing was on the wall. Dorchester fought back bravely and a piece of magic from stand off Cohen Emery saw him waltz through the home defence and touch down under the posts.
Cohen added the extras to put Dorchester in the lead albeit briefly. The hosts were well organised and had plenty of pace but Dorchester held out through the first quarter.
A burst of three converted tries however turned the game in the hosts' favour and left Dorchester playing catch up.
On the stroke of halftime Dorchester kicked a penalty into the left corner and from the resulting line out drove over their opponent’s line, Scott Clarke scoring the try.
The second half was mostly one way traffic with Dorchester suffering a series of injuries resulting in players playing out of position.
They did manage to restrict the home side to just three unconverted tries, never giving up the fight.
