WEYMOUTH winger Keelan O'Connell said 'it's good to be back' on the pitch after more than a month on the sidelines.

O'Connell has not played since picking up an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw with Easleigh in pre-season.

After recovering from that injury, the winger then pulled his hamstring in training prior to the 2-0 defeat to Hemel Hempstead in mid August.

However, Mark Molesley introduced O'Connell for the final 15 minutes at the weekend and the player was delighted to be finally back playing.

Speaking to the club's Youtube channel after the 4-1 win over Sholing, he said: "It's a very good feeling.

"It's been a frustrating time for me, very stop start, getting started in pre-season, getting minutes under me, and then obviously having an injury and then another one after that.

"It's a season I have been looking forward to, so for it to start like that is a frustrating one, but it's good to be back."

O'Connell has admitted that he has returned at 'a good time' as the club's fortunes have picked up after back-to-back wins against Dorking in the league and Sholing in the FA Cup.

He is now focussed on helping the team continue their good form and climb up the table.

He added: "I have probably come back at a good time, confidence is growing in the lads, they have played well without getting results and now the luck is coming our way in these games and we have two good results and we want to keep that momentum going."

O'Connell will be hoping to get more minutes when Weymouth host Worthing this weekend in the Vanarama National League South.
