Dorchester Town manager Tom Killick has praised his players mentality after coming from a goal behind against AFC Totton.

Former Premier League striker Charlie Austin opened the scoring at The Avenue at the weekend, but a brace from Olaf Koszela and a goal from Wayne Robinson meant Scott Rendell's injury time consolation could not deny the Magpies a second consecutive home win.

Killick was pleased with how the players responded having gone a goal behind, arguably against the run of play.

MATCH REPORT: Dorchester Town 3-2 AFC Totton

Speaking after the game, Killick said: "Obviously it was good.

"We knew we would have to be at a really good level from the start.

"We did well and created better chances than them in the first half and looked more dangerous, then out of nowhere we were behind.

"It could have been demoralising but the players gathered themselves at the break and came out strong again and it was a sign of a good mentality which is pleasing.

With the likes of Austin and former Poole Town striker Tony Lee, it was crucial that the Magpies were able to cut off the supply to two players who could have caused some real damage at The Avenue.

Killick was pleased with how is players took on board the information provided to them pre match and their execution in stifling the Stags forward line.

He added: "At our level of football, how clear you can be on the plan can vary, because of the external information you have on your opponents is not always there.

"But Totton are well known to us and they have a distinct way of playing.

"Our players had the information on how to negate their threats but also how to maximise our threat.

"It is one thing to speak to players about it, but to execute it against very good players is the hard bit, and that is what the players did."

Killick also praised in form striker Olaf Koszela who has now scored five goals this season - three in his last two matches - and thinks the player has a good career ahead of him.

He added: "He is really playing well and if he carries on that those levels good things will happen to him in his career.

"Obviously we don't want to lose him, but we are benefiting from it (his good form) and he is a really lovely lad and no one deserves it more than him so it is really good to see."

The Magpies boss also confirmed that Gerard Benfield has returned to the club on his season long loan after returning to play for Weymouth against Dorking.

On Benfield he said: "He is now back with us on a season-long loan, but there is still a recall in there.

"We are grateful and we will have to see how it develops but Weymouth hold all the cards."
