DEFENDING champion Kaiese Brown has regained his title Jurassic Tennis Ladder title in a straight set victory.
The Jurassic Tennis Ladder final contested on Sunday, September 8 at the Wey Valley Tennis Centre between Clif Moreton and Brown.
The final was watched by a large crowd and they were treated to an excellent display of top quality skill and athleticism.
Moreton, who has great experience and a powerful serve put reigning champion Brown, under a lot of pressure with some excellent sliced approaches.
However, Brown had his own solutions to attack, mainly employing his powerful and accurate forehands, thereby pushing Moreton back and then delivering some deft drop shots.
After an hour and 40 minutes Brown emerged victorious by a score of 6-2 6-4.
The competition started at the beginning of April and has run through the summer months, involving over 70 players who played nearly 350 matches.
The format was a ladder system where you could rise a maximum of six places if you defeated the higher positioned player.
The top eight players at the end of August took part in a draw which led to semi finals and then to the Wey Valley final.
It was hoped to be staged at Dorchester Tennis and Squash Club on their superb clay courts but very bad weather reports made Weymouth Tennis Club Coach, Clive Stow, the organiser, to opt to go indoors.
The players were awarded medals and cash prizes for their efforts. An award was also made to Paul Danbury who played the most matches throughout the summer.
