HAMWORTHY UNITED RESERVES 6

Balti Sports were taught a hard lesson after losing 6-0 to Hamworthy Recreation Reserves in the Dorset Premier League.

Hamworthy scored four goals in a crazy 15 minute spell at Weymouth College Sports Centre leaving Balti's joint manager Rob Marquis frustrated with the manner of his side's defeat.

Charlie Harries claimed a hattrick whilst Matt Kesse netted twice in between a strike from Brad Hill as the visitors ran out comfortable winners at a wet Weymouth College Sports Centre.

The defeat leaves Balti tenth in the table with seven points from seven games after Hamworthy leapfrogged them into ninth with nine points.

Harries opened the scoring for the visitors with two goals in the opening five minutes as he was left unmarked, both from crosses from the right wing.

Rec's third soon followed after Matt Kesse's shot squirmed under the foot of Balti’s debutant 16-year-old keeper Harrison Wood.

Experienced left winger Brad Hill then added a fourth for the visitors before Balti had even had a chance to catch their breath.

Balti's Louis Gear watched his free kick superbly saved onto the post by the visitor’s keeper, but the club's fortunes went from bad to worse before half time as Kesse doubled his tally for the game.

Marquis' side were much improved in the second half but the game had gone and they failed to really trouble the Rec keeper.

Harries then completed his hattrick from the spot to compound Balti's dreadful day in the rain.

Speaking to Echosport after the game, Marquis said: "Three nil down after seven minutes probably sums it up.

"We weren’t great the rest of the first half, although, we did put in a better performance in the second half.

"Had it not been for a slip due to the conditions, resulting in a penalty it would have been goalless, which was more reflective of the level of the two teams and credit to the lads who could have packed in being five down at half time.

He added: "For John and I it was the manner of the defeat that has felt the worst this season - we have given better teams a good game.

"We can’t go backwards, only forwards, so we will look for an improvement on Wednesday evening.

"It is likely we will have changes as a result of availability. That seems to be ‘ the modern game’.

"Gone are the days have having a squad of fifteen for the whole season."

Next up for Balti is a trip to Dorchester's Avenue Stadium where they face Ashley James' high-flying Dorchester Sports in the Dorset Premier League Cup.

Kick off on Wednesday, September 11 is at 7.45pm.
