DORCHESTER SPORTS 1
Dorchester Sports were unlucky in defeat against top of the table rivals Westland Sports in the Dorset Premier League on Saturday (September 7).
Ashely James' side came into the game off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth Sports last weekend, but where unable to get anything from the game
Dorchester welcomed back Sam Duncalf in goal and new signing Sol Roche was named on the bench for the first time.
Westland had ex-Dorchester Town striker Phil Ormrod back up front for the first time in a while and it was the former Magpie who struck first.
After just five minutes the striker smashed the ball past Duncalf to give the home side the lead,.
Dorchester settled and grew into the game at were on top when they thought they had equalised through skipper Alex Godfrey, but despite the striker's effort goal bound an offside Dylan Ellis made sure from a yard out, but was flagged offside.
Derek Wall saw a shot of his own saved by ex-Balti goalkeeper Harrison Wallis andbefore the striker pulled the ball back for Jamie Rawlings who was six yards out, but hooked his hot well over the bar.
Godfrey then had a shot which hit the post, whilst Duncalf then made a great save with his feet from Ormrod.
Westland's second would come on the stroke of half time when Ormrod's brother Steve broke through Dorchester's defence to give the home side a 2-0 lead at the break.
James made two changes at half time and were on top just after the restart with Roche proving the difference.
The striker linked up with Godfrey and buried his chance to get Dorchester back in the game.
Roche then broke down the left only to see his cross blocked with a last ditch clearance from the deflection.
With Dorchester pushing for an equaliser, James' side were caught twice on the break in stoppage time with Westland wrapping up the points with two goals from Korey Andrews.
Speaking to Echosport after the game, James said: "We didn't deserve to lose the game 4-1 but over the whole 90 we just wasn't good enough in both boxes.
"They are a big physical side and we didn't really get close to them off the ball, on the ball was 100 times better than last week versus Bournemouth.
"Not many sides will create four or five good chances to score at Westland and if those chances had gone in, I think the result would have been different, so we only have our selves to blame really.
"We know where we need to improve and hopefully that will come against Balti in the cup on Wednesday night, I thought Sol was brilliant when he come on, he looks a really good new signing for us.
