US PORTSMOUTH 1

PORTLAND 2

Camp 6, Beale, 70

Goals from Josh Camp and Freddie Beale saw Portland take all three points away to US Portsmouth.

It was the perfect way for new joint managers Shaun Bessant and Josh Hickman to kick off their tenure at the club following the departure of Kyle Critchell and Jamie Symes.

The new bosses welcomed back George Stuttle to the starting line up and their was a start fro young Shane Evans who stepped up from the reserves.

It didn't take long for the Blues to take the lead with Camp finding the net after six minutes after tucking the ball away from a rebound.

Portland's strong start continued as Camp tried to turn provider with a flicked ball straight into the path of Pat Jenkins, but the striker's attempted lob went over the bar.

New first team cack Crit Clarke then played Jenkins in down the left wing, with the striker then finding Beale with a cross but his effort was well saved by O'Donnell in US Portsmouth's goal.

The home side did try their luck from distance just after the half hour mark but their effort sailed over the bar.

Jack Delves then had an effort just before the break but was unable to convert his shot.

After the restart, Harrison Bruton was called into action making a brilliant save at the front post with his feet to deny Portsmouth an equaliser.

Camp and Jenkins linked up again with the later seeing his strike saved by O'Donnell before a mistake at the back from the host almost saw Jenkins double the Blues lead but watch his strike bounce back off the post and into O'Donnell's clutches.

Portsmouth would equalise just before the hour mark as their right winger curled an effort in from distance which Bruton was unable to reach.

The home side almost took the lead themselves in the 68th minute after a cross was met by their striker's head forcing Bruton into a fantastic save from point blank range.

The Blues would regain their lead though through Beale after the winger cut in from the right and coolly finished to make it 2-1 with twenty minutes to go.

With all three points coming back to Dorset, the Blues now sit 10th in the Wessex League Premier with eight points from six games, three points off the playoff places.
