Dorchester Town manager Tom Killick has said his team 'don't want to shy away from expectations' after a mediocre start to the season.

The Magpies sit in 12th in the Southern League Premier, with five points, having won one, lost one and drawn three of their games so far.

However, despite acknowledging that performances have 'not been good enough,' the Magpies boss wants to be fighting for promotion this season.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: "We want to be challenging at the top end, that is the aim, the resources have been made available and we don't want to shy away from expectations.

"Our overall performances have not been good enough, we just need to face up to that and commit to raising our levels and be at the top end and get out of the league but our levels are quite away from that.

"There is an understanding between the directors, management team and players of what we need to be doing."

The Magpies have had no midweek game this week which will give the team the opportunity to train twice ahead of the weekend's clash with Frome on Saturday, September 7 (3pm).

Killick added: "It is good to have the week to focus on Saturday as we will need to show more."
