MARK Molesley labelled Weymouth’s 1-0 defeat to Hampton & Richmond as “cruel” after Corey Jordan’s own goal continued the Terras’ points drought.

In what was a relatively even contest, Jordan was earlier spectacularly denied by Hampton’s former England Under-17s keeper Ted Curd.

After Curd’s stunning save, the manner of the winning goal piled misery on Weymouth who, in Molesley’s eyes, have been bereft of fortune amid a stretch of seven consecutive defeats.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “Every game I think it’s going to turn around, with everything I see.

“You probably get caught up in the last 15 minutes. The cruel blow at one end and then the desperation to try and get in the game.

“We’ve got to try and find a way. We are agonisingly close at the moment, but we’re saying this every game."

Up front, the additions of Jordan Maguire-Drew and Glenn Gabriel will add spice to an attack that has now gone more than 540 minutes without scoring.

And Molesley was grateful to the Weymouth board for backing him in trying circumstances.

He added: “They’re great, I’m always indebted to them. They’re instrumental in why I’m back here because I want to build something special and play a certain way.

“It hasn’t been the ideal start, we’re plugging holes with unfit players and having to adapt a few things until some of our main soldiers are back.

“We’ve just got to get some points on board to lift the mood.”

Molesley has arguably been cornered in tighter situations, notably at the financially-stricken Southend immediately after leaving Weymouth in 2020.

And he will be drawing on his own learning curves during that stint with the Shrimpers to help extricate Weymouth from their troubles.

“I’m living every moment. It’s cutting me deep,” he admitted.

“No one will ever realise how much it hurts, it really does. But you’ve got to use that as fuel for your fire.

“Have I been in tougher situations? Yes. This is a walk in the park compared to that.

“But it doesn’t devalue this in any shape or form, this is tough times at the moment."
