Dorchester Town manager Tom Killick has labelled his team's performance 'inadequate' after they went crashing out of the FA Cup.

The Magpies were beaten 2-0 by Banbury on Saturday (August 31) and Killick pointed to the disappointment of being knocked out of the prestigious competition at such an early stage.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: "I think some games you can put it down to bad luck, fine margins or poor refereeing decisions, but on Saturday, it was none of that, it was just us being inadequate from minute one.

"Being a game of such importance, it's very disappointing when everyone is below par, but we have to accept it as a group that it has happened and there is nothing we can do now but respond in the right way."

Killick also described the defeat as an opportunity missed and that the team needs to 'take responsibility' for the defeat with performances needing to improve.

He added: "There is a big awareness that we have missed out in progressing in what is the biggest competition you can play in as a non league footballer.

"We have taken that away from the supporters and the people who run the club as well, it's a big disappointment that we have to take responsibility for.

"I think we have a bit of work to do.

"The performance against Gloucester was gritty, but not amazing.

"There were good basics like work ethic and spirit but we were not at our best.

"Then at Winchester we did not play well even though we drew, and at Banbury we played poorly and we need to address that and get our levels up and need to be better on Saturday."
