Boreham Wood 3

Weymouth 0

Weymouth were well beaten away to to Boreham Wood in the National League South on Saturday.

A brace from Junior Dixon and a stunning freekick from Tom Whelan saw tehe Hertfordshire-based club take all three points at Meadow Park.

The Terras carved out plenty of chances - especially in the first half - with Euan Pollock coming closest at 1-0 with his effort hitting the crossbar.

Mark Molesley made one change from the midweek visit of Chippenham with Pollock back in the starting line up for Josh McQuoid.

Ben Greenwood recovered from needing stiches against The Bluebirds on Tuesday evening and started in a more advanced role again as Leo Hamblin continued at left back.

Boreham Wood started the match on the front with a couple of early forays into Weymouth territory but it was the Terras who would have the first real chance of the game,

Corey Jordan headed the ball into the path of Malachi Linton who cut into the box before unleashing a strike which found the side netting.

Boreham Wood then had a chance of their own to open the coring as Charles Clayden went through on goal but his shot was well saved by Billy Terrell from close range.

There were shouts for a penalty for the Terras after a looping Brooklyn Genesini corner found Jordan Thompson at the back post, with shouts for a handball from a Boreham Wood defender dismissed by the ref.

The home side then took the lead after 20 minutes as Abdul Abdulmalik's fizzed a ball through to Dixon, who calmy slotted the ball into the bottom corner of Terrell's goal.

Weymouth then thought they had equalised a few minutes later as Greenwood marauded down the left wing, crossing for Tom Bearwish who finished well, but the linesman deemed the ball to have gone out of play.

Pollock came close with a stunning strike from the edge of the box only for his effort to come crashing back off the bar.

Charlie O'Connell, then nearly added a second for the home side but could't keep his effort on target

In a first half filled with plenty of chances Linton had several more attempts at goal but could not get any of his strikes on target and the Terras went into the break behind.

Just five minutes after the restart  Whelan stepped up and fired a freekick on the edge of the box into the top corner of the Terras' net to double the home side's lead.

Molesley then brought on Brandon Goodship for Jordan as the Terras boss went in search of a goal before Calvin Brooks and Francis Amartey entered the fray for Hamblin and Genesini.

However, it would be Boreham Wood to score next as Dixon doubled his tally for the afternoon.

Boreham nearly made it four minutes later as s strike from Tyrone Marsh was deflected onto the crossbar.

Dixon was then denied his hattrick with another shot deflecting up onto the bar as Weymouth's goal came under fire.

Despite the scoreline, Weymouth kept fighting and looking to get back in the game.

Chances fell to Bearwish, Pollock and Greenwood but all three were unable to find the target.

Ezio Touray was then introduced for Linton and was straight into the action sending an effort wide of the target.

Greenwood came close with a freekick in the final few minutes of the game but Nathan Ashmore turned the ball behind for a corner.

Despite plenty of chances, Weymouth's lack of clinical finishing cost them as Boreham took all three points and compounded Weymouth to a fourth consecutive defeat.
